As part of the GO4ZERO initiative, we are seeking a skilled Civil Works and Structural Engineer to join our project team on a long-term temporary basis. Your expertise will be essential in our greenfield Clinker Line project, where you'll work closely with the project team to ensure optimal design and construction of civil works and structures. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated consultant or freelancer to make a significant impact on a crucial project.

Project Overview:

GO4ZERO is our ambitious initiative aimed at reducing our environmental footprint in clinker production through innovative and sustainable practices. The Clinker Line project in Obourg involves a significant upgrade, transitioning from a "wet process" using chalk to a more efficient "dry process" using limestone. This includes constructing new clinker production lines and revamping existing infrastructure to enhance efficiency and reduce emissions.

Reporting directly to the Lead Civil Works & Structure Manager, this role is crucial for both the design and implementation phases of the Clinker Line project at the Obourg plant. The successful candidate will support and implement civil engineering aspects critical to the production facilities and supporting infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Civil Works & Structure Manager in overseeing the civil engineering and structural aspects of the Clinker Line project, from the initial design phase through to construction, ensuring all structures are up to project specifications, as well as local and international regulations.
  • Participate in the bidding phase to help select appropriate contractors and oversee the management of construction documents (such as calculation notes and drawings) and material compliance.
  • Assist in managing the construction of critical infrastructure, including new production lines and the upgrading of existing facilities, ensuring they meet operational and environmental standards.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and local authorities, to ensure project deliverables are achieved on time and within budget.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in civil/structural engineering and construction management, particularly in large-scale industrial projects involving significant upgrades and new construction.
  • Strong expertise in managing the construction of industrial facilities and associated infrastructure, knowledge of cement industry is an asset.
  • Fluent in French and English, with excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work on-site in Obourg for the duration of the project.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; knowledge of other design software is an asset.
