Sustainability Manager, Engineering Initiatives & Services Team

The successful candidate will be a key part of the Benchmarking team as an experienced Sustainability Technical Expert and will be responsible for delivering the construction of new and retrofitted Sustainability projects across SCTT Connect's Middle Mile Sortation Centres (SC).

The Sustainability Project Manager will play an integral role in the development and implementation of the European (EU) and United Kingdom's (UK) network and be part of the long term development of SCTT Connect's Sustainability infrastructure.
This opportunity combines construction engineering, planning, project management, facilities management, benchmarking best practices and contract management.
It requires a person who can show proven ability in the planning and design, and project management / control of new and the enhancement of existing SC building working with the Preconstruction, Construction, Engineering, Start Up including mechanical handling equipment (MHE) execution teams with a proven track record in permitting, design and engineering, and project management.
You will be part of our EU/UK Benchmarking team, who are supporting the delivery, standards, and processes of all parts of our buildings.

As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Mechanical & Electrical & HVAC, you will be the link between the Preconstruction, Construction team, which manage ongoing projects in the field, aligning to Worldwide Design Sustainability teams and design templates.
You will be responsible for the definition and improvement in carbon and energy efficiency of all aspects of the built environment; mechanical, electrical, sprinkler, HVAC, plumbing and BMS systems that we design and implement within our buildings. Review and consult templates and execution designs and concepts, driving improvements in all parts of sustainability and carbon reduction step changes across Transportation Engineering Services (TES). Sustainability practice and Construction knowledge is essential.

The role will be based in Luxembourg and will include frequent travel to many locations throughout EU/UK.

  • Responsible for overseeing sustainability in construction engineering, planning, and design
  • Managing Contractors, Designers and Consultants for sustainability issues
  • Prepare reports, specifications, technical analysis to fully define the design requirements, equipment and services required
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and present formal documentation for approval when required
  • Ensure that contracts are fit for sustainability purpose, cost effective, and incorporate appropriate Service Level Agreements
  • Provide overall sustainability site management, coordination, planning, specification of business proposals and coordination of subcontractors
  • Facilitate and partner with others on due diligence evaluation of new sustainability opportunities
  • Ensure that contracted resources deliver work to meet duration and quality targets, addressing and ensuring the correction of under-performance issues
  • Audit contractors to check that the skills and competencies of contract labor are appropriate to need and they are fit to undertake the work on which they will be deployed
  • Establish and operate the information systems necessary for effective scheduling and recording of contract work
  • Support contractors' work and help them to achieve higher performance levels.
  • Coach other new members on sustainability best practices.
  • Review, challenge and improve mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and BMS services engineering and holistic design for template prototypes
  • Support the deployment of sustainability
  • Gateway for all technical stakeholders (IT, LP, BMS, Risk) the Pre-construction Team.
  • Drive the procurement team by defining the specifications for MEP categories
  • Influence, coordinate and deliver Sustainability targets and strategies relating to all Construction activity across our program of activity.
  • Lead technical program reviews and drive schedule acceleration, cost savings, standardization.
  • Define and implement strategies for data collection and provision for Information -Management on existing and new real estate assets
  • Collect and sync feedback from developer, GCs and Consultants and internal stakeholders
  • Assist Pre construction and Construction Managers during design reviews, GC procurement, value engineering, tender reviews
  • Deep dive on technical details and lead problem resolution on a need basis

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • University Degree, B.S. or Master, in Architecture, or Engineering (or science/technology).
  • Extensive mechanical, electrical and HVAC engineering, execution, design or prototyping experience, and holistic design expertise
  • Proven technical leadership experience in development and implementation of large scale, complex projects.
  • Flexibility to travel up to ⚠% across projects in Europe.
  • Excellent working knowledge using MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project and related software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Work experience within field execution, i.e. with General Contractors
  • Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
  • Experience in program or project management
  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
  • Experience defining and executing program requirements
  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
  • Construction contract and designer contract legal experience, Blue Book, FIDIC, Code law contracts
  • Working and architectural knowledge using BIM and / or ⚠D modelling tools, Revit and related
  • Speaking of other EU languages
